L’Outer Critics Circle est l’association des journalistes de théâtre américains en dehors de New York City. Tous les ans depuis 1949, ce prestigieux organisme récompense les meilleurs œuvres présentées durant l’année à Broadway et Off-Broadway. Totalisant 9 nominations, Sister Act est l’œuvre tenant le plus de chances de remporter des prix cette année. La reprise d’Anything Goes suit de près avec 8 nominations, The Book of Mormon (le musical satirique des créateurs de la série d’animation South Park) en compte tout de même 6.
Les gagnants seront annoncés le 16 mai alors que les récompenses seront remises le 26 mai au restaurant Sardi’s, un établi
ssement phare de Broadway qui accueille traditionnellement cette cérémonie. Deux semaines avant la très attendue remise des Tony Awards, les Outer Critics Circle Awards sont souvent un bon indicateur des choix de la professions. A suivre !
